American Drug and Alcohol Survey (ADAS)
The American Drug and Alcohol Survey (ADAS) is a questionnaire used by school districts
or other youth agencies in communities nationwide. The Bernards Township Health
Department and Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse use the ADAS to understand
the nature and extent of local substance use in our youth. We use the results for
the following:
- assessment of community needs
- evaluation of our prevention programs
- identification of trends in use over time
- generate awareness of use and abuse in Bernards Township
The following charts highlight the major findings of the ADAS conducted in 1990-1991,
1994-1995, 1998-1999, 2002-2003, & 2006-2007. We will be conducting another ADAS
in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 in 2008-2009.
