Fellowship Village - Grandparents' Day

Grandparents' Day is an annual event where Fellowship Village residents invite family and friends to join them in a day of fun, education, activities, and food for all ages. Mini-Grant funds were used to support a new interactive tent where older adults gathered with their children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren to enjoy hands-on craft projects. The goal of this interactive tent was to increase and develop stronger intergenerational relationships by encouraging cooperation, learning, and fun. It was hoped that through these activities, Fellowship Village residents, who may at times perceive that they are no longer able to contribute to society, were empowered and realized that they are positive role models to future generations. Likewise, interaction with family and friends of another older generation provide today's youth with positive views of the aging population as well as a sense of purpose and caring about others.
